An Important Notice from Councilman Tom Waniewski, Toledo Ohio budget debate continues

An Important Notice from Councilman Tom Waniewski
February 26, 2008

I have received many, many emails inquiring about the proposed ordinance that would increase the income taxes for people living in Toledo but working in the suburbs.

Toledo City Council's Committee of the Whole will be discussing this issue and will take public testimony at a meeting Monday, March 2nd at 4:30 p.m. The committee meeting will be in City Council chambers at One Government Center on Jackson and Erie.

Sincerely,
Tom Waniewski

Is this even a plan?

Taxing people more and more for the failure of vision of the state of the city and state of the state.

The Mayor presents an estimate to the council and the council votes on an estimated budget, not a firm and final budget.

What happens when those working out of the city are downsized? Income tax revenue is gone.

What happens when businesses close in the city? Tax revenue is gone.

What does the administration plan on to stem the tide of tax revenue loss?

Why fees, but of course. Dare not call them taxes, no for shame on you, they are fees.

Just raise the trash tax, I mean fee, to off set the lose of revenue caused by the loss of people living in the city.

The moniker of the city is so appropriate, Glass City, as we can see right through the glass and see that there is no plan, except to raise taxes, er, fees.
